What can Brown do for you?

What can I say about Scott Brown?  This is a man with a voting record so terrible that it can’t be defended.  He went out of his way to make the financial reform bill significantly weaker.  He voted against the Paycheck Fairness act because why should women be paid the same as men.  And my personal favorite, he voted for the Blunt Amendment.

The Blunt Amendment would have given employers and insurance companies say over which types of health services they covered based on their religious or moral traditions.  It was a clever end-around that would let institutions deny women’s health coverage for things like birth control or abortions.  For the most part, the press has focused on Catholic institutions and women’s health.  But the Blunt Amendment is actually a lot worse.

Say you work for a printing business that’s run by a Jehovah’s Witness.  According to the Blunt Amendment since the owner’s religious tradition says that blood transfusions are wrong, they could exclude that from your health plan.  Maybe you work for a movie studio that’s run by a Scientologist.  Well Xenu says that mental health care is the equivalent of witchcraft.  So good luck with that medications for your schizophrenia.  Perhaps you’ve found employment at a factory and the owner is a born again Christian. Well sorry about that HIV positive diagnosis because according to his morals, diseases are God’s rightful punishment for the wicked.

It would have been awful but those are the kinds of things that Scott Brown thinks are good ideas.

Now since his voting record is terrible, his campaign has just been a series of false and weirdly, racist attacks.  In the first debate, he questioned his opponent, Elizabeth Warren’s, ethnicity.

Professor Warren claimed she was a Native American, a person of color. And as you can see, she’s not.

I’m sorry.  I didn’t realize that you could tell how ethnic a person was just by looking at them.  The next day members of his staff participated in a rally outside of Warren’s HQ complete with tomahawk chops and Native American war cries. Nope, not offensive at all.  When asked about his staff’s actions, stand up guy that he is, Senator Brown stated:

It is certainly something that I don’t condone.  The real offense is that she said she
was white and then checked the box saying she is Native American, and then she
changed her profile in the law directory once she made her tenure.

Incidentally, Elizabeth Warren is part Cherokee.

God, I hate people like this! Can’t people just be wrong, apologize and chalk it up as a loss?!  It’s like hey, you know that lie you originally raised about Professor Warren’s Native American heritage?  Well, you compounded your lie by having your staff do some really racially insensitive acts.  Your defense versus the truth isn’t to cite the original lie. YOU ASS!!

But what did I expect from this clown.  This is a man who is trying to stir up racial animus among white people regarding affirmative action and Elizabeth Warren’s Native American ancestry, while simultaneously paying homeless black people to wear Obama Supporters for Scott Brown t-shirts.

Whenever I hear people talking about how voting doesn’t matter, I point to this guy.  This is what depressed Democratic turnout for a special election in Massachusetts means for the Senate.

So what can Brown do for you?  He can lie about his record, lie about his opponent, play around with the powder keg that is racial politics, and hopefully be replaced this November.
